Gray Bearded Fat Man

Let's see, about myself... does anyone enjoy this sort of thing?

I write, mostly, for myself.  Putting things down in black and white helps me organize my thoughts, and reason things through.  If you enjoy something I've written, agree or disagree, please let me know.  It's always nice to know that someone out there is reading my stuff :)

I'm a software engineer for Shick USA.  I design industrial automation software, implemented in a fair number of locations around the world.  It's a good company, with good people, they let me work from home... what more could I ask?

I'm married, my wife and I have four daughters, teenage and up.

I live in the middle of nowhere, Missouri, on a few acres of heaven.  Since I work from home, I rarely leave the place.  I'm quite happily turning into a hermit, and expect to complete the transformation the minute I can retire.

I used to be associated with the Appleseed program. Due to issues with their management, I am no longer affiliated with that group, but I still believe that they do good work.  If you're interested in a weekend marksmanship course, they're tough to beat.

On that note, one group that does indeed intend to beat them, is the United States Rifleman's Association (USRA).  This group started when a large number of former Appleseed instructors decided that we missed teaching marksmanship, and started our own program.  It's still getting it's footing, but I expect big things from this group.  We'll be running our first Missouri shoots this year (2012), and adding basic pistol and shotgun to the current rifle marksmanship course.

As part of the USRA instructor program, I am also an NRA certified firearms instructor.

Let's see, I'm on the board of directors for Western Missouri Shooter's Association, and a member of Missouri Carry, Missouri Sport Shooter's Alliance, and a good number of other pro2A organizations.  To me, gun rights are a litmus test for politicians.  If you don't trust the citizens with guns, why should we trust you in a position of power?
